Need Help w/ Font use please

I believe this topic has been covered before, but cannot find the post. I have SCAL 2.0 and have upgraded to the latest and greatest. My question is this...when using SCAL 2.0, do you still need to install a font to see and use it in SCAL or is there a way to keep another window open to grab and use it? Hope this makes sense. as far as I know you'd still have to download the fonts you want.

I only install the fonts that I will use often. The rest I have in a separate folder. When I want to use one of them, I just open the font and then the program that I want to use it in.
Both versions of SCAL have a font refresh button (a circular arrow in the font window) so you don't have to open the font before you open SCAL.

I have a font viewer that works with inkscape.. when you type in a word in inkscape it automatically opens the word in the font viewer and I can click on each font file I have and it will show me what the word will look like in that faunt.. When I see one I like I click on set as default go back to my inkscape desktop and it's typed in the preferred font
