Importing high resolution images are blurry, please...

Post by CrossHairSB »

Hi,
I can't seem to produce a high resolution print n cut image. My customer sent me a 5385x2993 resolution PNG image. But when installed or image pasting in SCAL 5...it's blurry. Can you please try it in your SCAL and concur this is happening? Please?

Thank you,
Best,
Ken

I answered this question for you in August. What you see displayed is NOT the original. It's a lower resolution copy used in SCAL to preserve resources. But when you print your image from SCAL it will use the original and not the displayed image.

I understand Sandy but it's printing at this lower resolution as well? Must be my printing settings then. Okay...sorry to bother you.

You're not bothering me at all. I urge you to import the exact same image into Inkscape and print at the exact same size and see if there's a difference. Every time I've done this testing myself (comparing a printout from SCAL with professional sign software or Inkscape or Affinity Photo), I have found the resolution to be identical. And every time, I've had someone else who presented the issue to me privately or on a FB group, I've had them do an identical test from another program and no one has ever come back and said that they got two different results. Now, color wise you can see a difference because SCAL and most other cutter programs do not support printer profiles like, say, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator support. That's when you need to understand your own printer's color management settings. But with respect to resolution only, it's never proven to be an actual problem.
