I was just curious...If I have a dingbat..let's say of a pirate ship and I want to cut out parts of the pirate ship with different colored cardstock..is there a way to do that? Thanks again...I will try not to ask any more questions for at least a few days :)

Thanks
Anna

I am for sure no expert and I'm sure someone else will come along with a better solution...but here goes!! I use the visual mat on the screen to figure out where I need to put different colors of paper on the real mat to cut. Using the rulers and lines as guides. If the object is all in 1 piece, then the only thing I know to do is to cut it multiple times with the different papers...not such a great answer, huh??

Basically, you would have to edit the dingbat in Inkscape. That is the only way I will use a dingbat.

I've started playing a little bit with "Break Apart" in Inkscape. I wonder if the break apart option would separate the ship such that you could arrange the pieces by color, save as an .svg, then import it into SCAL. I'm thinking that if you have like colored pieces in one area, that would be easier to place the appropriate colored paper according to the layout. There are some great tutorials on the boards about Inkscape and Inkscape itself has some good tutorials where you could learn more about break apart. I hope I'm saying break apart right - not at that computer just now - it's break something anyway.

And, by the way, you can ask a thousand questions a day and we'll be happy to help wherever we can! If nobody writes on the boards, I get bored!
