Images getting skewed when I import them inko SCAL

I'm really new to SCAL and Inkscape, but it's driving me crazy, because several of the jpg designs that I load into inkscape, and save as a svg (I am sure I'm doing this step right, as it works about half of the time) then load into sure cuts a lot about half of the time the image is totally skewed. Sometimes totally unregonizable. When I save it in Inkscape it looks totally normal, but then when I import it in to scal it's distorted. Even a simple jpg file that contained only text did not seem to be compatible. I've searched the forums and am surprised I seem to be the only one having this problem because it happens with so many of the designs I try to convert. Any help would be great! Is Illustrator easier to use than Inkscape?

I'm sorry I can't answer your question about Ink, but I can answer your question about Illustrator being easier to use and I would say yes. I am biased, because I have been using Illustrator for a long time, but I can do things in Illustrator in half the steps of Ink.

I have not used Illustrator and I have not had a problem with distorted text until .47. I created a monogram from a font and one of the letters in the monogram had a distorted line, and yes, it looks perfect in INK.

Don't even know what a work-around might be.

It looks like you can use any of the Path operations that are in the same section as Path/Union. I have successfully used both Path/Union and Path/Exclusion to make Ink47 vectors that SCAL can use. HTH

I had the same problem with 0.47 so I redownloaded 0.46 and have no problems with things getting skewed so you are not alone!

I went back to the file and worked on it and now it is not distorted in SCAL. I usually use Combine and Exclusion on my files but for some reason I didn't on this one.

Thanks for the tip Heather. Will be more careful next time.

Lindamac you saved me. I downloaded .46 and now finally after a week of frustration everything that I have imported into scal has worked without a hitch. It was soooo annoying cause things were coming out seriously warped, and it made no sense. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I am having the same problem. Just started using all this since Xmas and it's been really frustrated to have my intricate creations from inkscape mangled in SCAL.
I would love this simple solution, but...
how do I download 0.46? Don't see it on inkscape.org

Penny Duncan has a link to 0.46 that you can download . Just type in Penny Duncan Designs in your search engine.
