Marcelle font question

Post by balletcostumemom »

Can anyone help me with what needs to be done to use Marcelle Font and swashes in SCAL? I have worked everything I need into the design, but I think the distressed look is causing problems for SCAL to read it. I tried tracing it but it wouldn't I guess because it isn't a bitmap.

You haven't converted the text to Path. Select the text, then from the menu, Path/Object to path. Use Path/Union if your letters are overlappiing. HTH

Thanks for the info. I'm very new to this. I tried your suggestion but when I try to import it into Scal,I get an error message in SCAL that says the SVG object, font or file contains embedded images or files and must be outlined first. Any further suggestions? This is the same error message I was getting before. Maybe there's another step I missed?

I opened your svg in Inkscape, and saw that the word eagles (all letters) were not path, object to to path and that they were grouped. I ungrouped them and then did an path, object to path believed that that fixed it. I didn't however attach it to my message.

Thank you so much Grammy, that did get it to open in SCAL. And I so appreciate everyone's help. Now I can import it into SCAL but it still has a pretty ragged edge from all the distressed look. So I tried shadow in SCAL and got it down to this, but is there a better way in Inkscape to smooth out the edges? (It will not trace as a bitmap obviously)
