Can I upload more fonts to use? And if I do, if I put in in MS documents, will it show up on SCA?

Also, what is the link to inkscape to download?

You can download as many TT fonts and dingbats as your computer can hold...most Fonts folders are found in your C drive under the Windows folder. When I download, most are zip files so I save to my Desktop, extract them, then move them to the Fonts folder for installation (computer auto installs when I chose to move the file to that folder from my desktop). Whatever TT font you have installed in your computer's Font file will show up in SCAL (sometimes there are exceptions here and there for some reason).

I also use Font Thing to manage all my fonts (free download at http://www.download.com/The-Font-Thing/ ... 38296.html).

not a good idea to download a lot of fonts to your font folder on your hard drive.

save them in a folder elsewhere by themselves & open when you need them. a font viewer is a good idea. I use the font thing--a free program which can be found by googling it.

click 'download' on whatever font you want to use
click open, then you should have a window pop up that asks what you want to open it with.
"compressed folders" or "zipped folders" should be an option; choose that.
click ok; new window pops up
under folder tasks, click extract all files.
click next, then browse: choose where you want to save this font to (good idea to have a folder ready somewhere when you do this)
click next
click finished

I think it depends on the size hard drive you have. The Font Thing reads the fonts you have stored on your computer.

I'm no computer whiz, but everything I've ever read says not to store them in your windows font folder--I worded my post wrong (computer dummy showing through, lol)

yes, the font thing reads the fonts wherever you have them stored. the best idea is to have your new fonts stored elsewhere other than in your windows font folder.

Really? I've not heard that. Why would that be? They hardly take up any room and that is where your Windows Office would read them from, the Fonts folder under Windows on your C drive.

I have my fonts in the windows/fonts directory. I don't see any reason to separate fonts. If I start creating other folders, I'll never remember where that font with the cute little such and such lives. Plus, if you put fonts in different folders, how will SCAL find them? Font viewers make it so easy to see what the fonts look like that I don't see a need to divide fonts into separate folders.

Do any of you ladies have Windows vista. I just go a new computer and it won't let me download any fonts into my windows/fonts directory. Was wondering if that is a vista thing. I have downloaded tons of fonts on my old computer this way and now it won't work on the new one. Any help would be appreciated

I have Vista and I have downloaded and installed hundreds of fonts, just since I got SCA. Vista does have a lot of security issues. Maybe you should check to see if under the properties menu, of the font you downloaded, it has the file blocked. I have seen that on occasion. Also, do you have the administrative account on your computer? That is another issue a lot of people have with installing any kind of files.
