welding in inkscape

I'm trying to weld a border in inkscape. I got it to weld on one end but not the other. Can someone help me? Thanks, Rebecca

It looks like it will cut fine just like it is. You don't need to, but if you want the dots to show in Inkscape, Break apart your border, select all of the dots, Path/combine (control K). Select the dots and the border, Path/Exclusion. HTH

Not sure I made myself clear--I want the border on both ends of the card. Rebecca

If you are going to weld the border to a card, you will need to do what I posted above, otherwise the dots will disappear when you weld. I think why you cant get it to weld is that you are probably importing one file into the other file, and Ink automatically groups imported vectors, even if there is only one object. After you import the file, select it, and ungroup it. Then you will be able to weld. HTH
