Sorry for posting here, but I'd like to know how to print text in white on colored cardstock in PSE. I can use a colored background and white text, but of course, the colored background also prints- using up alot of ink. Is there anyway to do this-- or even in Word-?

I am unaware of any white ink for printers. When you look at you monitor screen and it show white it is actually the absent of color you are looking at. If there are white inks for printers out there I am unaware of where to purchase them. My suggestion is make your project with a colored bkground and use the white for the lettering and it will print out as if it were white ink with colored bkground.
Any suggestions from other's on the forum would be great

Why not just try it? Have it on colored background first, so you can see it then make the background white. Or, just have the the white... Highlight it to see it....

I agree with Grammy, I have never seen a printer with white ink. You will either have to print a dark background on white paper with the letters not printing, or try something else. One thing you might try is to print an outline of the text on dark paper and then use one of the white pens to fill in the letters. If you need several of the same thing, you could use one of the silk screen techniques and use a white ink, but this process can be pretty involved.

Been playing with this for quite awhile and I believe that it can't be done. The white text on colored backgrounds are, I suppose, the absence of any color allowing the white paper to show thru. Thanks for the replies, Rebecca

I had a printer called an Alps, probably 10 or 15 years ago that had white ink, as well as metallic gold and silver. It was awesome, but unfortunately didn't stay popular, nor were drivers updated to keep it usable.
Anyway, there are some ways to "print in white" since you have a Cricut:
-cut letters out of white vinyl or cardstock and stick them on
-cut out the letters from the colored background and mount on a white background
-make a stencil and fill with embossing ink and white embossing powder, then heat emboss (we also used to heat emboss black HP inkjet ink with white powder back in the day, but I think the new stuff dries too fast)
-put a white gel pen or paint marker in your Cricut and write letter outlines instead of cutting them. Unfortunately, I've found every color of mini gel pens but white. I mention it here in case someone else finds them, or a way to chop them in half without making a huge mess.
