(Jancy, or Heather, I know you would know how)
I am a complete novice when it comes to any vector drawing program. I have inscape, illustrator, and corel draw, and still don't get it, lol. I have made some svg files with success, but the more intricate they are, the more problems I have. I love corel draw because it can trace better than the other 2 programs, but the problem is, scal cant cut it--i don't know if it is because there are 2 many nodes or what. so i opened the svg file up in inscape, and yes it has a ton of nodes. How do I scale them down? I tried path - simplify and it totally distorted the image. It would be a beautiful cut file if someone can help me, I have alot more, but I am having the same kind of problems, no matter what program I use. scal only cuts lines on some. I have tried slecting the whole thing, and union, group, combine, nothing seems to work. (this is why I haven't posted cut files in a super long time) I would love to make some of my creations into cut files, but if I can't figure it out, then I probably will lose interest (again, lol) and give up. HELP! please? Here is the svg, can you look at it, and tell me what I need to do. I think what ever is wrong with this one is wrong with all of them. thanks to any who can help!

ok, trying to upload the svg, says file is to big, brb

that is a very nice design!

take a look at this post
http://forums.surecutsalot.com/viewtopi ... ify#p19364

it has directions on how to change the simplify mode in inkscape so that it doesn't distort your image so much.

if you email me the file, I can see what might be going wrong with it.

PS-I can't open a .rar file

I tried the simplification threshold, didn'twork. there are not to many nodes around the scallop part, but in the middle, so it totally takes out the scallop. I can't seem to seperate them to just do the middle. :( I wish my brain would wrap around the whole vector thing, lol. I am actually good in photoshop andpaint shop pro-- but the vectors, I have a mental block or something.

still working on it. it loads very slowly.

object: ungroup worked to get it in separate pieces, but it still gets very distorted.

PS--you have 2 layers of the inside part--one reason for the gazillion nodes.

lol, see, I don't know how to tell if there is more than one layer. on nother layout (I will have to reload this one to look) I only show one layer, but you posted in the forum (it was the starmesh design) that there were 2. I couldn't for the life of me find another layer.

That's gorgeous, but my computer is having a hard time handling it. What if you import the two parts into Inkscape separately so that you can simplify the flower portion, but still keep the scallops intact? After you simplify you could combine them.

I tried that, didn't work, although the scallop remains fine. the inside/flower portion still distorts terribly.

there is something weird about this image/file.

There is a double layer, so if you get rid of that you will only have 4000 nodes instead of 8000+. Maybe then I can get my computer to handle the file.

inkscape keeps shutting down with this file.

can you save the same image you posted in your op in all black, rather than the outline? I 'll see what I can do with it that way.

I'm going to bed now though.

I can't find another layer. I open it in inscape, and click on layers and it doesn't show anything. (the tool thing that comes up on the right.)
Oh, and I have traced this image in inksape, and it just doesn't do a nice job, you can't tlell the flowers are flowers, and of coarse cricut wants to double cut everything. then it tears up the paper, lol
