making your own boxes

Can I make my own box pattern by say.. I have a goodie box in mind that I would like to make. Can I take it apart, scan it, save it on my computer then use this program to make them on my cricut?

You can make it using Inkscape (a free program) or a couple of other programs that aren't free. The program you use will need to be able to save the vectors in the svg format.

You will need good contrast between your template and the background in order to get an easy/good conversion. See this tut for help with basic tracing. http://dan99.blogspot.com/2009/01/video ... o-svg.html

Thank you Heather for your prompt answer. I am new to this. I just got my first Circuit Exp. and what this project for a Baby Shower I am helping with for my daughter n law.

you can make your own...but also if you are new, the best $10 I spent was to buy a font called "boxes" by one of the members here (sorry I can't remember her website) it installs like a regular font and you just type the letter corresponding to the box you want in SCAL and voila...it has designs for every season. Hopefully someone comes along that has that link for you!
