Negative to positive

Having traced this image it shows as a negative. How can I flip it to a positive
Here's one way to do it. There are probably others.
Select the shape and go to Object>Break Apart.
Click away so that nothing is selected.
Click on the outer shape so that only it is selected. Change the Fill color to white on the Fill & Stroke Panel.
Now, drag your mouse to marquee-select all of the inner shapes, being careful not to also select that outer shape.
Apply Object>Merge. If you don't see the shapes as black, then change the Fill color to black on the Fill & Stroke Panel.
Again, there could an easier way in SCAL. I'll play around with it and see if there is.
