PLEASE HELP ME!!! How can I remove the red stitches from behind the letters? I am so very sorry if this is very simple. I have been trying to do this for days and I cannot figure it out! I have SCALP3.

Without seeing the file I can only suggest that you can try and "ungroup" or your file may have layers and you need to go to the layers panel (the stack of paper) on the right hand side and select the stitches

Here is a video that might help you deal with layers...

I'd like to hear how you "do" or "not do" in solving your issue. :)

The easiest way is to select the black part of your letters, then from the menu select Object/Add Shadow Layer. Select "Blackout Shadow" in the pop up window, if you want the layers to be tight together change the size to 0, then click OK. Select your new layer and the stitch layer and use Path/Front minus Back.

Also, since SCAL is layer based, it's helpful to have the Layers window open. It will show you exactly what you are working with. For instance your stitches are probably in two separate layers, (but I can't tell without either the Layers window or the actual file) so if your letters are all together in one layer or group you will need to Group your stitches first before you use most of the Path menu. You can find the Layers window in Window?/Workspace/Advanced. HTH
