Looking for info re Silver Bullet 24 vs KNK Maxx Air 24

I am (finally!!!) able to get the cutting machine of my dreams for my birthday. The Silver Bullet. Only problem is... Turns out since I last looked, there appears to be a new contender. The KNK Maxx Air 24.

So now, after perusing all over google to very little avail, I have no idea which one I should get. It seems all I can find is on the MTC forums, and a few other miscellaneous boards here and there. MTC seems to come down on the KNK side quite a bit. But honestly I can't find much of anything that doesn't amount to, "I have the silverbullet (or) air maxx and I love it."

There's no comparisons or reviews, all the comparison charts are out of date and for a 950 g Maxx Air which is now 1500. Even the top die cutting machines of 2016 reviews are misleading (though SB clearly comes out on top) BUT the review of Maxx Air is the old 950 g one, not only that, they are comparing a 13 inch Silver Bullet and a 15 inch Maxx Air.

The specs on those machines are not the same as the 24 inch models.

So basically I hear a lot about customer service (which is supposed to be good for both, but KNK seems to have more online presence), and the KNK has bluetooth, which isn't really a "machine choosing" criteria for me, it has 250 g more force at 1500--but I kind of feel like KNK was saying, well we're competing with silver bullet, so what can we throw in there that will give us a noticeable edge? But I've not read anything that suggests the 250 g extra does anything in particular. So I wonder, what, if anything, it does change?

And Silver Bullet has SCAL and KNK has MTC, but it sounds like now both can use both programs.

The Bluetooth is for PC only and while I do have access to a PC, my new laptop is likely going to be a Mac.

Does one have better support in terms of tutorials or learning how to use the machine, or active forums? Or finding that information?

Will one or the other of these machines work with the tens of thousands of Silhouette files I have, in conjunction with the deluxe software (which is supposed to convert to svg?) I really want to be able to use all the files I paid for. So that's big for me.

Other than that, I really don't know what to look for, I can't find specs to compare, and the ones that are mentioned seem to be the same. Is there anything one can do that the other can't?

Is one easier to move than the other? I know neither of them are designed to be portable. But I have a craft room upstairs and the computers and printer are downstairs (and I doubt the 30 feet of bluetooth would help that far away). I know at least the silver bullet has a rolling stand you can buy.

The accessories--well KNK comes with $300 worth free, but from what I saw there were things like chipboard and rhinestone kits. Those things are nice and I'd like them, but things like mats and tables and blades and different tools are more important when first buying a machine.

Any advice whether you've owned one or the other, known someone who does, have researched this yourself, all is welcome and helpful.

I just don't want to pick the wrong machine and regret my choice. I've been waiting years to get this.

Thank you for any and all help/advice/suggestions :).

I responded to your email privately... the one that had these same questions. Let me know if you didn't receive it.

I have owned a Black Cat and still own a Silver Bullet. I use mine a great deal and really love it! I do not use mine with a mac so can't assist there but moving either one up and down stairs could be a challenge. Many have used the accessories you mentioned and you should check out Penny Duncan's site. She is the queen of accessories, has done many youtube tutorials AND has free files for many of her projects, the other person I would seek out is PAPASUE. I recommend her because she uses a mac and would have insight there.
Find Penny here http://pennyduncancreations.blogspot.co ... chive.html PAPASUE here http://papasuecreative.blogspot.com/. There are many others with great skill and knowledge as far as the bullet and you may want to ask your question here http://forum.silverbulletcutters.com/. Good luck with your search!
