I just bright a cricut explore air, and have sure cuts alot 1.
Knowing I need to upgrade my scl, what version would be best?

You'd just want to get the current version, SCAL4. From SCAL1, I don't think it's an upgrade, I believe you have to purchase it outright. The upgrade starts at SCAL2. You'll have lots of great features to use. Then, after you design it, you'll export it a SVG file, which will enable you to open it to use your Cricut Explore.
