Can anyone help me figure this out - I have attached a file hopefully you can understand what I need LOL

The only thing I can think of is to make two parallel lines instead of the rectangle as scal2 does not allow for splitting those lines to make open paths. You could upgrade to scal4 and do it and save as svg and then import it back into scal2 I think.

Probably not the answer you were hoping for but it's all I got

Use your eraser tool and choose keep open path I believe
