Trying to do shadow layer with vinyl

I'm pretty new to cutting and have come up against a problem. I have not been able to find a tutorial on this and would appreciate it if one exists if someone could point me to it.

I am trying to do a 2 layer sign to go on my gift store window. The top layer will be in white and the bottom shadow layer in pink. I am using SCAL 3 Pro. I am using Impact MT Shadow and as you can see, there are cutouts in the font. I would like those to NOT be in the bottom shadow layer. In other words, the cutouts will be the pink showing through. The shadow layer should also be a little bit bigger and show around the edge of the white font. Can anyone help me achieve the shadow layer? Like I said, if there is a tutorial or youtube video I would love to see it. I have found some, but I can't figure out how to show only the OUTLINE of the bottom layer so that is all that will cut in the cutter.

In the Appearance Window, you have the Option Shadow Blackout. That should give you what you want. You just have to decide how much of a shadow you want by raising or lowering the value.

Talanhart - Thank you, that's what I was looking for. The key was moving the slider over and than also removing some nodes where it didn't completely remove some of the "cutout" cut lines. Thank you!
