So I took a Cricut Blade housing and removed the raised area in the middle and a little up by the numbers with a lathe here at work. The housing is now the same size as a silhouette housing. If this works, I will be able to use Roland blades which are extremely cheap on Ebay instead of buying Silhouette blades. I am going to check it out tonight and see how it works.

I hope it works out. I recently purchased the Click It n Cut blade housing, but I have mixed feelings about it. I sent them an e-mail last week and I still haven't received a response. Maybe I just need to play around with the settings a little more, but I just don't have the time or patience right now.

I am so desperate to get a click blade housing that works that I even sent Silhouette and e-mail.

The Cricut housing and blade worked for me. I was able to cut vinyl last night on my first try. I pointed the arrow to the front and used a blade setting of 3. The cut was a little deep. I turned it down to 2 and it cut, but not deep enough. I tried between 2 and 3 and it was a nice clean cut for me.

The Cricut housing was a little big to fit in the machine. It fit, but it was tight. When we had the housing on the lathe, we should have removed metal all along the base and at the very bottom. I used a tool here at work like a Dremel and and made the housing smaller in the middle and at the very bottom.

If anybody is interested in trying this with a Cricut Housing, look for a Tool and Die shop in your town. GIve them a call and make sure they have a lathe. Take both housings with you, so they can use Digital Calipers to measure the Silhouette housing. It should only take about 10 minutes for this whole process. Ask up front how much they would charge. If they do charge, it shouldn't cost more than $10 or $20.


YOU WILL WANT TO REMOVE THE DIAL OFF THE TOP OF THE CRICUT HOUSING. IT DOES UNSCREW. WHEN THE 2 METAL PIECES TOUCH, JUST PUSH DOWN ON THE LITTLE METAL PIECE IN THE BASE WITH AN XACTO KNIFE BLADE AND KEEP TURNING.

And make sure you no longer will use or sell your Cricut.

This is good to know as I have my cricut blade housings and....a specialty machine shop beside my husbands shop that we have great relations with. To decide...is it worth trying for my eClips as I don't really need it (but maybe they can do something with the deep cut housing I have).

I'm not sure about your machine.

I used the deep housing blade holder that I had for my Cricut. It had never been used.

I'm still on the fence about the right electric cutter. Maybe you can help me out.

You might want to research the new Cameo4 that's just been released. It has a LOT more functionality than either the Cameo 3 or the Curio.
