If I do a design in inkscape and save it to say 5x4, will it open in scal at 5x4? Rebecca

No, it will be whatever size your default is (top of the library window). It will keep its proportions, so its easy enough to resize to the size you want.

If you change the value in the Shapes Properties (where you change the font size) to the height of the design, it should open to the right size proportionately.

If you object if 5"H and 4"W, set the Shape value to 5...should work.
