I have a Cricut Expression and SCAL2. Also more recently bought a Silohuette Cameo which comes with a basic a software program to use with it. Now there is an upgraded software that I am reading about for the Cameo. I like easy and am not a very techy person. I am used to .cut files with my cricut in DS and SVG files with my cricut in SCAL2. I want the ability to use either my Cricut and SCAL2 or my Cameo and SCAL3 or perhaps the Cameo advanced software (which I have to buy). I have not downloaded SCAL3 yet or even opened my Cameo. So can any one direct me inthe right direction? TIA.

If you are familiar with SCAL2 it seems to me you would want SCAL3 as it works with the Cameo and would not be much different from what you already know. You will still be able to use SCAL2 with your Cricut. It is a free download if you owned SCAL2. Here is the link for the SCAL3 software.

I agree that if you are using SCAL2, then the free upgrade to SCAL3 is probably what you will want to go with.
For reference, however, I put together this chart

Sstehman - thank you I downloaded SCAL3. I was so happy to see my SVG files come up as I was nervous they wouldn't. I haven't checked them all but so far so good. Although I have not cut any thing with my Cameo, I did go in and set things up and turn the machine on. I want to go watch some videos and then jump in. Thanks again.

Firstcut - thank you. The comparison chart was so helpful. I am a novice with my cutters so right now I am content with simple functions. Of course I wanted to make sure I could use my existing and future SVG's, use images that came with my Cameo and be able to take advantage of the free images and purchase new images from the store, and to be able to print and cut - this one I will have to read more about. Nevertheless it looks like I won't have purchase any other software for a while so I can play and learn as I go along. Thanks again.
