I downloaded the trial last night and am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to get the fonts from the internet to the program. When I download the fonts, they are in .zip files and I cannot get them to open in anything. I even got Inkscape to try to figure it out but am so unsuccessful. Does anyone have any info on how I can start downloading fonts and start using them in SCAL?

Please tell us what operating system and version you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X etc. Then someone will be able to guide you.

I now have it unzipped. But how do I turn that .ttf file to a .svg file and then use that font on scal? this is the biggest problem I'm having.

I believe you have to either all of the ttf files downloaded into your Windows Font folder OR download a font organizer (like The Font Thing http://www.download.com/The-Font-Thing/ ... 38296.html or the other one who's name escapes me right now) where you keep all of your fonts (if you don't want them in your Windows folder). You don't import it or change it to an svg. You just choose the font and start typing.

Oh wait. Unless you're talking about dingbats. If so, then I'm clueless because i have a mental block with them.

You don't need to use Inkscape or turn the font into an SVG file. Once you have installed the font in the correct place for your version of Windows (I don't have Vista so can't advise you on that), it will show up in the font list in SCAL (the same as it will show in Word or any other program you have that uses fonts). Select the font in the fonts table in SCAL, and then in the window that shows all the letters in the font, click on a letter and it will appear on your cutting mat. IHTH!
