Anyone want a good deal on cutting blades for your Cricut? I found some on e-bay , 5 for $8.99 with free shipping. Here's the description:

NEWSet of 5 Roland Blades 45 Degree Vinyl Cutter Master
They are exactly the same blades as you can buy in the store labeled for your Cricut. I bought some a couple of weeks ago.
We need a thread for finding good deals on things we use with SCAL/Cricut. For instance, I buy flexible chopping mats at the 99cent only store, 2 to a package, cut them down for my little Cricut, trace the measurements on the back with permanent marker, apply a thin coat of Royalcoat repositionable paper adhesive, let it dry over night and viola! You have two cutting mats for $1.00

cool idea for the mats. do you happen to know if the blades for the regular housing and the deep cut housing are the same?

I heard they are different. The housing on the deep cut is longer but i think the blade is the same. Also heard that a lot of people aren't happy with the deep cut and that it doesn't do what is promised.

Duh, I didn't read your question closely. I am pretty sure the blades are the same. I will have to do some research. It seems like just the housing is longer.

ok, I read on the Lifetime Moments message board that the blades are a different size for the deep housing . Here is the quote from someone. "The blade is longer then the regular one and you have to use the Deep Cut Housing (metal piece that hold the blade) to use this longer blade. This blade also has a deeper cutting edge then the regular one." So now I will go the the company I bought my blades from and see if they have the longer blades. Will report back later.

Hi
I bought 60 degree blades from USA from a signmaker on ebay they are fabulous in the normal housing and do a deep cut without the deep cut housing and blade which I bought and is a waste of money IMHO

For aussie try scrapdragon.com.au they have 5 cricut blades in a pack at a discount price.

Cheers
Christine

Snapdragon (yes I know I spelt it wrong) got a really bad reputation last year when she came onto the Cricut website and abused all the Aussie ladies for not supporting Australian Businesses because we were buying from the USA. AND I mean abused everyone. She got really nasty until we pointed out that she had just trashed herself as her website link was in all her posts. Quite a few of the Aussie girls won't buy from her now because of her attitude. Hope she's changed!

I e-mailed USCutter about the longer blades for the Cricut and they had no idea what i was talking about. But they are selling the 60 degree blades on ebay: USCutter Set of 3 Roland Vinyl Cutter Blades 60 Degree and the starting bid is $3.25 and has two hours to go. They only have 3 bids so far. I think the 60 degree is worth a try. It isn't going to hurt the Cricut. I haven't tried cutting chip board yet. Guess I will go bid on the 60 degree ones and try it!
