Hi

I had a similar problem when I upgraded to SCAL 3 without knowing anything about the circut lawsuit. I retrived my lost serial number via email from SCAL and they provided seperate serial numbers for SCAL 2 and SCAL 3.

Try retrieving your lost passwords by email http://www.craftedge.com/support/lostsw.php if you don't get both email support. Then re-download the software - make sure you enter the SCAL 2 serial number not the SCAL 3 one.

Uninstall SCAL 3 before doing this. Then let the wizard do the work. Hope this helps.

http://www.craftedge.com/support/lostsw.php Craftedge posted it a while back...but make sure you have the most recent driver. Your firmware should be ok on the Cricut. You can definitely send craftedge a email about this. Since it seems your alright as far as your purchase date.
Take a deep breath consider yourself one of the lucky ones ;)
Something like that happened to me. But now, after I installed the driver , It says that "an error ocurred while trying to cut". I am thinking that problably is the firmware . My personal cutter is 1.0 .........if I update right now, it will still work with SCAL2?

Here in faq's it states the firmware required.
If you update the firmware...it should still work, I would think....but not positive.

Yes, just download after filling out this form,...if you can still access it on the old computer...it is good to go to the Help section and deactivate from the old computer.
http://craftedge.com/support/lostsw.php

activate via this page
http://craftedge.com/activation/activate.html

You will need your serial number found on your cd or in the HELP section of SCAL on the old computer...if you can still access it.
If you don't have a cd, and have not written down the serial number, then you will have to contact support

http://craftedge.com/support/support_form.html
You will need the email address that you used when you purchased the software, or have registered it, I believe.

I think that is all the steps. If not, someone else may mention if I have missed something.

I have been using SCAL 2 for a few years now. I am wanting to purchase a new Cricut. Will I be able to use SCAL 2 with the new Cricut?

What if I get the same machine I currently have? The problem I am having is I think my machine is going to quit on me. I dont have to have a newer one I just want one that works.

You should be fine if you get the same machine....buy it used...maybe on eBay or Craigslist but you might still have to update firmware to work with SCAL if the previous owner did not.
