Wow what a relief I was expecting more spam.
I am very grateful to the writers of Software at Craftedge for helping us use SCAL with old and new machines.
I love it and it helps me bring my own ideas to a page and cut them.
I will try to share what I have made once I have got back from seeing my Grandson Graduate from UGA :)
Then he is going on to Veterinary School. :D I have yet to work out how to cut a gown for his card. hoping I can use a photograph of one.
Anyway just wanted to say thank you really.

But if it will not work with the E then we will not be able to receive any support after dec. - so in other words we are tough out of luck if we have a problem?

If you are saying, "tough out of luck" while using the 'E' and scal2...I don't think you are ever going to be out of luck with CE.
They will still assist you if you have a question...I feel certain of that. There just won't be anymore upgrades or changes made to SCAL2 based on people's problems with it, and yes of course they will be encouraging people to move onto SCAL 3 and new machines.

See no reason why the forum would leave. Whether it is SCAL 2 or 3, they both use svg's so we can still create and share.

Hi everyone

I am new here.

UPDATE: Figured it all out, even the correct blade settings for the rhinestone material. :-)

I just got a silhouette SD today and want to use software that will convert my designs to rhinestone designs. Can anyone tell me where I can find a tutorial or vid tutorial on how to do this with SCAL 3? SCAL 3 is what I am thinking of purchasing, but can't decide just yet. I just know I don't want the iDesignR Lite.

In advance, thanks for your help.

Ok, I have done all updates in SCAL 3 and Pazzles, but since I can’t cut small circles correctly with my Pazzles Inspiration I am fishing for solutions (I have Win7).

1. Watching the Cutting Machine Installation video on svgcuts.com (Svgcuts.com is awesome btw!) they show the installation for SCAL 2; I have SCAL 3, but figured it might work the same. Nope.

2. Following the video, Edit>Preferences>Cutter there is no way for me to select cut speed for the Pazzles Inspiration. I can cut with the PI, but not make any setting changes in this area (yes, I know I can change speed within the Pazzles software, but not from within SCAL like the vid shows for Cricut).

3. I updated the driver for the Pazzles Inspiration, but the only cutters listed in Edit>Preferences>Cutter are CraftRobo and eCraft settings on my machine (yes USB driver is up to date). Should there be a PI setting in there some place so I can control the speed there just like it was done for the Cricut? I wonder if this would help the cut of the small circles to make the default speed in SCAL 3 Low?

4. Watching the Preferences video, one thing was missing. The video is for SCAL2 so some things were missing, like under the Edit tab in Preferences. The speaker explained everything in that area except “Automatically Simplify Shapes” My box is checked and 20 is in the box. What is this for? Can it affect how my small circles are cut, like not closing the circles? Should the nodes (I am guessing these are nodes) be set to something like 80 or whatever?

Ok, these are just some additional questions I have as a complete newbie to SCAL 3. I was really hoping I could use the HELP in SCAL 3, but it’s no help to me for specific answers I seek such as the above.

Thanks

So here's my sad story... Last year I spent days, hours researching what cutter to get, with the limitation that I only have Mac laptops at home... saved up my money and got the Cricut Expression with the intent of getting Sure Cuts A Lot. I was so happy, until I went to download and purchase SCAL, and the new version no longer worked with my old Macbook Pro.. I was going to need a new Intel Mac to run the software. So I saved up for over 6 months.. got my new Intel MacBook Pro... and NOW.. I can't use my old cutter! CRICKETS! I have now literally spent thousands without being able to cut a single custom project... and without the software my Cricut is basically useless to a professional artist. (ok.. I'm just venting now)...

Anywhoo.. now I need to save up for a new cutter (even though my old cutter is basically brand new and unused), and I still have the limitation of being on a Mac. I've seen mixed reviews on the ecraft, so I'm torn between Pazzles and the new SilhouetteCameo coming out in October. Has anyone used Pazzles or the Silhouette SD with SCAL and a Mac? How well does it work with other software like Illustrator or Photoshop? I've seen videos of people successfully getting a good Print and Cut registration by manually lining things up with the Pazzle, but I'd like to hear about people's accounts first hand, as I anticipate I'd be doing quite a bit of that. Any help would be appreciated, my head is spinning from all the hours and days of research I've been doing on these different machines!
