If you don't want to bother with welding in Inkscape:
Create your welded word/title/pattern in PSP using solid black shapes - just type the letters separately then push them together until they are how you want them - save as jpeg
Open Inkscape import your jpeg
Path>trace bitmap
Delete the original image
Save as .svg and you're away.
remember that PSP has a lot of bold shapes ready drawn for you so by making them into .svg files you can cut those as well.
Have fun

Susibi,

I am in the middle of a conversation with another mb member regarding a .svg file of a dingbat that I altered in PSP and traced in Inkscape. Just want to confirm: Your instructions would be the same for opening a dingbat in PSP, manipulating it in PSPS, save a j.pg and then bringing into Inkscape, tracing as bmp, deleating original and then saving as .svg - correct?

why do you need to trace a dingbat - just open in SCAL and cut - it acts just like a font but if you must alter it then yes, that's the way to go
