How to delete & backspace ?

I just downloaded the trial version, and I have a question. How do you delete a letter if you have made a mistake spelling, or change your mind? Also, how do you backspace?

double clicking on letter will select it you can then move it or delete it .

OK, I feel dumb...where is the delete button? and it won't let me move it outside the yellow line.
