Question about renaming font???

For all you font creator, I have a question. Is there a way to change the name of a font...not the file name but the name that shows up in Print Preview?
I have noticed that the fonts that have two words in there name (other than bold, italics) don't show up in Inkscape or SCAL (or at least not for me).
I have downloaded several fonts from fontgarden and the font name is _.ttf. But when you look at the Print Preview, it will be _ _ and those are the ones that I am having trouble with. I installed some of the others that have only a one word name in the Print Preview and they show up in both programs.
Also posted in the Font section...I am desperate.

Do you need to uncompress or unzip those fonts? I have some from fontgarden and have no trouble with them. Maybe this no help, but it's my only suggestion.

I don't know what is going on...there are some that are not showing up at all. I noticed some of the ones I can't get to show say Macromedia Fontographer and have a space in the name...I gave up. I really wanted AWSignAB badly but I guess I will have to do without it.

Where did you find the AWSignAB font to download? I found a website that seems to have only the jpg layout of the font. There was no actual font.

I always download my fonts to my desktop and before I unzip the file I check to see if the my computer has blocked it. all I do is right click on the folder then click on properties if it is blocked I unblock it.
Might help

That is one I downloaded from Font Garden. I can't get it to show up in the programs along with some others I downloaded. They show up in the Windows font list, just not in the programs

I was looking on Font Garden for the font. I thought I'd see if I could see it in SCAL. I can't find it. Do you know what the URL is or where I can find it in Font Garden? I looked through the A's and S's of the archive fonts. I won't be able to try it until this evening however.

I found that font here
http://www.gooftroopers.com/teacher-fil ... B.TTF/view
When it installed I noticed ithat it called AW signables and in SCAL it comes at the beginning of the font list before it really should, it alphabetizes them according the capitol letters so since the W is capialized it puts it before many others for exaple I have one called Angelina and it appears before that one.
so I got it to work in SCAL I hope you can too. it looks like a fun one!

I got it to show up in SCAL but I need to modify it in Inkscape. I had to go through Photoshop and save as jpg and go from there. It is the long way around but I was not satisfied with the font as it was.
Thanks.

Have you thought of getting FontCreator? It is a fabulous product and sooo easy to use you can import Jpegs directly into it to make each character of a font. And that way you can have a ton of shapes all together instead of loading each SVG separately. It does cost around $80 but oh so worth it. I simply sold some of my font carts to pay for it and don't regret it for a second. I haven't made any original fonts so I can't share my creations but anything that you want to cut that is a jpeg you can turn into a font. they do have a 30 trial version also.
