What’s the company philosophy on ‘major upgrades’?

Post by zippes »

Hi folks… quick question for those that have ‘gone before’… considering the purchase of SCAL… it appears that it has the capabilities and features I’m looking for.

As I understand it… the current version is SCAL2… minor upgrades (.1, .2, etc) are free… my question is what about when/if SCAL3 appears? … Do you believe that the company will require a “re-purchase” of the product? (…maybe discounted a bit?)… what is their policy on major upgrades?

Many thanks for insight… and help…

SCAL2 required an upgrade fee and I suspect SCAL3 will also, as is standard practice in the software industry. I think it will be quite a while before we see SCAL3. There was a year and a half between SCAL1 and SCAL2.

Gosh, What else would we want it to do? It's too hot in Vegas to knit sweaters.

Good morning folks… (..and Happy 4th of July!!)

Thanks muchly for the good feedback… and in return… I’ll share a little with you. I fired off the same question to the company and their answer pretty much matches yours. Their reply:

”All 2.x updates will be free. If we release a 3.0 (which would not be until next year), there might be a small upgrade fee around $20.”

So, … in SCAL3, there was no mention of a sweater knitting option… but I did suggest an option for making a cold margarita (…for those sweltering folks in Vegas ;) )

Have a great holiday … all…

Welcome Zippes and Happy 4th to you as well. Thanks for letting us know about the knitting not being a part of the upgrade, I am sure Lindamac is glad to hear it. LMAO
