I am quite new at this, but I have designed a page I would like to cut but seem to not having layers, groups, welding or something done correctly. Can someone please help? I have also created one in inkscape but can only import the border lines.

I'm not sure what you want to cut. If you want just the 4-H clovers and text cut from a 12x12 page there is no need for the rectangles... Just delete the rectangles. If you want a frame with the clovers and text the easiest way to do this is to make and inner and outer rectangles, select both, then use Path/Exclude. Then just place your clovers and text where you want them.

If you weld something, anything that is inside another shape won't cut. If you want to keep two or more pieces together an easy way is to use Object/Group. HTH

On the top of your open SCAL2 page on the toolbar you'll see path.. click on the path after outlining your image with your mouse and then path/exclude.

Only SCAL versions 2.010 and newer have this, so if you have an older version you will need to either update your SCAL or use Inkscape if you need Path/Exclude. HTH
