Can someone watch this please..

ive been doing this tut now for around 6hrs and am totally stuck...
Firstly i couldnt get the path break apart to work so added the letters one by one...ive added some butterflies to the body of the wrapper and now zilch...i cant go any further, how does she select the letters then the butterflies...its around 6mins 20sec on the video...
I click one letter and go to the 2nd letter but it only selects the letter i am on...

Jayne,
Penny is using Ink .46 and I'm guessing you are using .47. In .47 you would type your wording, select it, the path>object to path then object ungroup to get the letters separate.
To select more than one item at a time, click the first one, then hold the shift key down while you select each of the others. It is easier when you are selecting everything to just press control-a for select all. The other way to select multiple items is to click and drag a "rectangle" around everything you want selected, then let go of the mouse button and all the items enclosed in the rectangle will be selected.

Ok done that and i managed to select the stars...but when i do the path difference the stars dont turn into cut outs...is it because i drew them on or does that not matter

You can only use Path/Difference on exactly two Paths. Select all of your inside shapes and use Control K (Path/Combine), then select both the inner shapes and the outer shape and you will be able to use Path/Difference.
