Please help!!!!

I was trying to be nice when I told a friend I make something for her...after I made it for her she informed me that I had used the wrong images, and not so nicely told me which ones to use...I am having issues getting the Hawk one to not be all speckely and can't seem to get the extra layer on the Cyclone so that I can have the red and blue on seperate layers. I am not very talented with Inkscape, and any help you can offer would be VERY much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
The top are the ones I made, that she didn't like and the bottom two are the ones I need help with.

What is the names of the two teams represented by these logos?

They are College teams Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.

I found this site for the vector artwork that we need for these two files. I download the files and I get a "Decompression Failed" message attached to the file. I am on a MAC, so that might be the problem. Could somebody try downloading the files and see if they work for you.

I was able to download it and convert to svg, but it is not ready for cutting.
I'm sorry I don't have time to make it ready right now, but will be able to later.
I did not see the Hawkeyes one on that website so if you could direct me to it I'll be more than
happy to download it.

Hopefully, just ten each, and I am not looking forward to all of that piecing. Thank you guys for helping me. I got the Cyclone one done in SCAL, but didn't do the little yellow outlines, do you think it needs them? Or does it look ok like this? I am still having issues getting the Hawkeye to work =(

Here's my attempt at the hawkeye...the solid one I thought would work as the white base...anyway hope it works for you or gives you something to work from if you need to edit it further.
