Still can't figure out paper placement - pls. help?

If I am trying to cut out an image with a lot of different pieces, how will I see where to place different colored papers in the right spot for the different elements? I don't know how else to make this make sense. For example, I tried to cut out a "retro phone" (SVG file that is posted in the SVG forum). I (thought) I had my different colored papers lined up where they would cut but some pieces ended up overlapping into the next colored paper. Someone here had mentioned to make sure that my virtual mat looks the same as the real mat and to zoom in to check the measurements. I did that and still had this problem. Not sure what I could be doing wrong. Pls. help!

There is a shift with the Cricut and SCAL that puts the screen image off from the real mat by up to a 1/4 inch. You either need to account for that by leaving a lot of extra room or test your Cricut to see how much shift you have and then move the paper or images accordingly. Do a search on the forum for calibrat* and you will find a lot more info on this.

Until you get this corrected, take out your blade and do a dry run until you figure this out. At least you wont be wasting any paper.

Hi Kim - I do this all the time (cut different paper for a project all at once). Like Kay said - the secret is to leave alot of room in between your SVGs on your mat. Just look at the measurements on the ruler in SCAL and match up to the ruler on your mat.
Hope that helps! Amy
