When I import a file in inkscape I noticed that there are tons of png files some from as far back as 2008 that I have made traced, saved, cut etc. and I no longer have a need for these files but I can't seem to find a way to delete them. I hope someone can help me Please. I'm sure there is a lot of space taken up by these unneeded files.
Thanks
Karen

Re: png files in inkscape question
You go to the folder in your computer where you have them filed and right click and hit delete option. Hope this helps

Re: png files in inkscape question
I know that sounds like a simple solution BUT when I go to the inkscape folder they are no where in site and I did a search on my computer and they don't show up. I can't find them to delete them except if I go to import a file , there they are and there is no way to delete them.
I'm very confused.

Re: png files in inkscape question
They probably aren't in your Inkscape folder. When you paste something into Ink, it makes a bitmap copy with the name "pastedpic_(bunch of numbers).png". If you have already saved the Ink file it will put the png into the folder with the svg file. If you haven't, it will usually put it in the last folder used. Try a search for images with pastedpic in the name.
Also, watch what folder you see the files in when you work in Ink. At the top of the open file dialog box you will see a series of names/folders. That tells you where the folder is located.

Re: png files in inkscape question
I hope I understand. I have attached a jpg to look at, this is what it looks like in Inkscape when you import a jpg or png etc.
If you can see your files in Inkscape that you will need to delete it will tell you at the top bar where they are located. Mine says J, Grammy's folder then scal. That is where I have mine filed in seperate sub folders. Now that you know where they are filed open explorer and find the folder then right click and delete.
If you don't see them there when in Inkscape, humm, if you know what they are called then do a search from your search mode. It would be trial and error. Good luck
