Do the fonts live in windows/fonts on Vista? I have XP Pro. I'm not sure the fonts live in the same directory.

Yes, they are in Windows/Fonts also.

Installing all the fonts in the Windows font folder will slow down your computer. All fonts wil be loaded when you start your computer wether you need them or not.

Saving fonts in another file outside Windows doesn't give you this problem. Using a font viewer is a good option to see what the font looks like. If you want to use the font in any program just open it. You will see a small preview screen what you will need to keep open untill you are finished with that font.

I have more then 40.000 fonts on my computer and saved most of them in different folders like, Dingbats, Gotic, Scriptfonts ect.

Computer speed is pretty fast these days, although I suppose 40,000 fonts could slow it down some. If you divide your fonts into different folders how do you get SCAL to look at another folder besides the default windows/fonts? I do like the idea of separating alphanumeric character fonts from dingbats, windings, etc.
