Just a suggestion. While the way you did it works, it may be easier to open the picture up in something like paint shop pro, then use your selection magic wand, and hit the part you want to copy. Use your tolerance button to be able to grab all the same color. then hit cut, and paste as a new image, then change it to black and white. then you can save it such as boat 1, and the next part boat 2 etc. then when you open them in inkscape,they would be easy to trace. You did a fantastic job btw.

Thanks for that. I don't know Paintshop Pro that much - except for cropping and resizing so I will have to have a play with it.

wow, that is awesome! If I'm understanding this correctly, this is a replica of the real boat, right? Very cool.

Yes that is correct. Dad had drawn it in MSPaint a few years ago so he could play with colour schemes on the boat in the comfort of his home - a bit difficult to try to picture colours on an object the size of his boat ha ha
