I just got corel draw4, and I LOVE IT!! for some reason it is so much easier to wrap my brain around than inscape is. I don't know it very well yet, I keep experminting, but I can tell you to trace a bitman image open a new page. import the picture. Go to bitman, and convert to bitman. set your resolution, ok, then bitman- mode choose black and white logo. when the box pops up, where it says halftone, change that to line art. mess with the sliders until you get an image you like, hit ok. Then go to bitman-outline trace, and hit clipart. again mess with the sliders until you get the image you like, hit ok. now take your select button and left click in the color pallete the clear icon. then right click onthe black icon. now go to your image and select it, move it out of the way, you will be moving the outline. then click on the image and hit delete. Now you have your outline. to change attributes, go to arrange, and click ungroup. Then the 2nd icon on the left, lets you into all the nodes and stuff, you can change it in there. Don't forget to group everything back together, or combine if you are welding before you save as an svg. That is a super fast speedy tutioral for ya, lol. Just play, I find that corel traces so much better than illustrator and inkscape. The images are much clearer, cleaner. Once you get this part down, you can go into the help section on how to get rid of sub paths, clean up the tracing if it needs it. good luck!
