Shelley and Lola I couldn't agree more. I also felt bad for care, as she (or he?) meant no harm and this is one of the reasons I left the cricut message boards. But I really don't think papasue meant it the way it came across. I don't know, but I sure HOPE that Care sticks around! =(
I will also be leary of posting any more svg files.
Can someone please make an svg of this?

Re: Can someone please make an svg of this?
Hi All,
I understand and respect everything that is said here. This weekend I made some favors for work for Easter. I am always afraid to post files for fear I may be using something that is copyrighted. I don't sell my crafts and they are always for personal use. This favor I made I used the original Lindt Bunny candy package that I scanned in and altered slightly. The tag I used had a graphic from a free download from daisytrail.com. I was going to post the file and then I stopped thinking well this package design is probably copyrighted. Ya never know so best not to step on toes. I see things and copy them all the time. I have downloaded so much over the years that I probably would not be able to remember where I got it, or even if I made it. We all need to try not to post things that are copyrighted but I also need to say I have traced so many provo graphics and used them too. And when we alter things at what point to they become our work. (if they ever do?) I like to post pictures and offer any help I can so that I don't inadvertently infringe on a copyright. This is why it is so important to learn the software and try to make things ourselves. I see all the time posts that say thing like "I like this, can someone make it for me" Helping is good but if the person took the time to create the file then there would be no worry about infringement. Have a great night everyone.

I didn't mean to offend her in what I posted.. I just wanted to say something because I remember the flack we took when we posted that monster toilet tank file... I just didn't want Care to get into crap or anyone else for that matter for posting the file she wanted.. Especially when it comes to Martha Stewarts files or Disneys like I said.. I really apologize if anyone took offence to what I posted but I don't want her to get into crap either.. Trust me.. I'm very very harmless and am a real people person.. Maybe I just care a little too much

Re: Can someone please make an svg of this?
I'm not going to reply to anything specific, because, like everyone else, I don't want things to take a bad turn or hurt anyone's feelings.
But I can say I am surprised at the response because I am certain that border punches (including MS border punches) have been shared publicly on this forum, and nothing has been said about that, other than "thanks for sharing". In fact there have been many things on this forum that have been obviously copyright or that someone else has created, or just found online, shared here.
For the record, I don't see any problem with copying something someone else has done, since everything online, and for that matter the cricut cartridges that some of us buy and use, are "copyright". Should I then stop using the carts I paid for on my mini books and LOs because someone else designed them? What's key (for me, anyway) is that it is just for my personal use.
I don't have the skills some people on this forum have, which is why I asked, and it is my hope that someone will decide to private message me. But everyone has a choice and a right to their own opinion.
My personal 2 cents on the whole Martha Stewart thing is, if Martha, with all her billions, can't be bothered to design a paper punch that works, and she is charging the ridiculous fee of $25 for one punch, then that punch should work properly. If it doesn't well, I think she deserves to lose the money. That may make some people on this forum angry but that's how I feel about it. MS border punches and single punches are exorbitantly expensive. Fine, they have a right to charge what they want. But, my opinion is, the increased cost should result in either superior quality or at least average quality, ie. it should *work*. If this punch had done what it was supposed to do, I wouldn't have posted. And I bet you anything had I tried to contact them about it, I would have gotten the big corporation "too bad", to put it politely.
Anyway, that is my opinion. Usually I stay out of these copyright discussions--it's just better not to put your opinions out there when there is so much heatedness and controversy. But since it is my own post and people are actively being encouraged *not* to help me out, I feel I have to say something. Because maybe there is someone out there who will listen. (To the request, not the rest of it.)
Thanks for listening.
Sincerely,
Care

Re: Can someone please make an svg of this?
Yeah Care, I agree. I actually did try and find a good image of that, but I just couldn't find a "good" one.. I'm not very inkscape savvy, but where there's a will, there's a way.
I tried fixing it in PSP... but I can't get it to work right...
I hope you stay in the forum. Sometimes people just get bent, and I guess you just have to take it with a grain of salt... I don't ever really post anything on here, not because I'm afraid of the "copyright police" putting the hammer down, but I guess I'm just lazy
I've copied a lot of stuff.
I'm sure somebody will send you a clean svg... I totally would, but I'm not having much success...

Re: Can someone please make an svg of this?
I guess I will put my two cents in, in the interest of moving forward and moving on. In the future, possibly what those of us who have been regulars here or are becoming regulars here can just open a new topic to discuss issues we may find that come up rather than making assumptions about what another member here is doing with what they are asking for help on. As an example, not too long after I started coming here I asked for help breaking apart a Junior College logo. Guess what? I had permission of the College Athletic Department to do it, for their locker room. As well, I have also posted some dance art work, but because I have dancers as children, we are picky about how dancers look. So the head of one, the arms of another, the legs of another and a brand new file is what I ended up with. Someone was gracious enough to help until I could learn enough to try and do similar things myself. I would have hated to have someone question that so early on in my membership here and am thankful to the people who did help.
Many people's copyright do include permissions for one copy for personal use. A scrapbook, would qualify as that, so we need to be careful in assuming what someone's use is. I would hate to scare off new members or scare those who are adept at SCAL or Inkscape from helping others also. In the interest in moving forward for them, maybe if they are concerned they can post a disclaimer when they do help with a file that while they are helping, the person must use the file within the copyrights of the artwork itself. And I'm a proponent of if I point fingers, take the other three and look back at myself. I own SCAL, Cricut considers that a problem. Where does the line truly begin and end? Let's discuss it but on it's own away from a forum member's request.

I just want members to know that I converted the image for care and did email it to her
...

Re: Can someone please make an svg of this?
Good for you Jo-Anne, that's all I was seeking to do, get CARE the file without getting it posted for the world.
I'm done...I'll never, ever bring up copyright issues AGAIN! I promise.
