DESPERATE FOR HELP!! INSTALLING DINGBATS ON COMPU THEN SCAL

Hello All....I just downloaded SCAL and I am soooo excited. However, I found these really cool dingbats of sports figures. I downloaded them into a folder in my pictures folder. Then I went to my font folder to install them and it tells me there is no font to install. Why is that? I am so frustrated. Below is the site where I am downloading the font from. It is sports dingbats

Does anyone know why I can't install them??????

Yes..I did unzip them..however, when I look in the unzipped file I see a little icon that says TTF so I know its there but I can't get it into my FONTS folder to install it...I am sooo frustrated right now...just FYI..I use Vista

I don't speak vista, lol. sorry. not sure if that really matters though.

did you try to open the font first before opening SCAL?
also, try refreshing your fonts in SCAL after you have that particular font selected--it might show up that way. saw someone post that tip.

I actually didn't even have SCAL open...I just was trying to install them on my computer first..I didn't even get to getting them into SCAL yet...any ideas how to get them on my computer? Thanks

In Vista;

Find the file you downloaded (sometimes it is a zip file)
Right click on it - "Extract All"
After it is extracted, right click on the TTF file, "Install"

you don't have to have them on your computer--just click on that font & you should be able to see it in SCAL.

not a good idea to install a ton of fonts into your windows file from what I've read--don't recall the specifics besides that it could make your compputer go wonky, but I don't think a small number would hurt. Not sure how true all that is.

Anyway, you should be able to copy/paste them into your fonts file in windows.

I dump all my fonts in my windows/fonts directory. But, I only download the ones I like; not thousands and thousands. The one thing I have noticed is that when I select a font in SCAL, it takes awhile for the font display window to display the chosen font. Don't know whether the number of fonts in my directory has anything to do with that. If it does, I might want to bite the bullet and sweep my fonts folder. Until then, I'll stay lazy and add to my fonts directory. Seems like it would be hard to keep track of fonts held in all kinds of directories - too many places to look for what I want, but that's just me.

Hi...OKAY....i am still having issues...I downloaded these dingbats (sports related..they look like people throwing a baseball) ...anyway...when I open SCAL I can see the dingbat font in the library, but when I click on it none of the dingbats are shown in the little window where you normally see the fonts....does anyone know where they are and why they can't be seen? I am soooo totally frustrated right now...I am soooo computer savvy and when I get stuck like this I get so angry at myself for not being able to solve my own problem. Thanks for any help you can offer me

Enlarge the font window (where the keys are showing) and scroll down, the font is there.
