I did install SCAL from the link you posted. And I replaced the firmware files in DS with the older version and did the "update." But my Cricut still shows the newest firmware, and SCAL doesn't work.

What is the firmware version that displays on the Cricut machine? Also, in Sure Cuts A Lot, when you go to Help > About, what version does it show?In-Focus wrote:KimberlyinMN wrote: Then you need to install the trial version of Design Studio from the December '08 update.

Re: Firmware Releases
Hi Everyone,
I just got the Cricut Expression for my Birthday in Feb. I downloaded the SCAL software and was tickled pink that I could actually work with it but then I got a shock. It would only cut from 2.1 version of DS firmware and I have v2.0. So then I followed the directions in the help section but the link says page no longer exists. Wait now.....but since I consider myself a smarty pants..I went to the DS site and downloaded the trial version........8 times and my firmware still says v2.0. Now miss smarty pants is toooo through..ahahahah. I have saved the zip file of firmware but I don't know what to do with it so here is where I need the help.

Re: Firmware Releases
Have you gone through the steps to update the firmware on your Cricut machine? It sounds like you've just downloaded and installed the Design Studio software. To update the firmware, you will need to go to Help > Update Cricut Firmware and follow the steps in that window.missgoody2shoes wrote:Hi Everyone,

Firmware on Cricut continues to say 1.52, even though I "updated" the firmware to version 1.51. SCAL version 1.016.

Well.... Hmmm. I don't know why it won't update down to the 1.51. Hmmmm... How about uninstalling Design Studio, rebooting your computer and then re-installing the December '08 Design Studio update?In-Focus wrote:Firmware on Cricut continues to say 1.52, even though I "updated" the firmware to version 1.51. Here is a link to my December 08 update file:

How long does the firmware update take on your Cricut machine? Is it around 10 minutes or so? (I'm just trying to find SOME reason why the darn firmware isn't being changed.)In-Focus wrote:Firmware on Cricut continues to say 1.52, even though I "updated" the firmware to version 1.51.
