Grad Card

Post by papasue »

For our first granddaughter who will be graduating High School and off to College in the Fall. We are so proud!

The design is almost a collage. Bits and pieces from a lot of places.

Butterfly background from "google".

I imported the buttlerfly file into Inkscape. NO trace.
I created the hat, diploma, bow by drawing them based on similar images on the web...you can download many of them and trace for cutting.
  • I assembled all together in layers in Inkscape.
Exported the finished file to PhotoShop to get a png file.
Placed the png file into eCAL
Used a rectangle from the shapes table to create a 10x7" rectangle around the placed image, lowering the image to the bottom of the rectangle, positioned so I could cut the rectangle and fold in in half creating a 5x7" card.
Printed the image on white card stock
Placed the print on my mat and cut the rectangle.
No files to share as all the elements are readily available in png or svg formats somewhere...there is a bow in the shapes table in tags

I hope this inspires you to create a memory for someone you love.

Wonderful card! I need to do another one this year, but it is for a boy....so butterflies probably wouldn't work for me.

Sandy, thanks for the nice comment. No problem to change for a boy just substitute butterfly for sports and change up the colors. Who will know?
