Unable to cut with ecraft

I just loaded the SCAL onto my windows computer. I had it on an old laptop years ago and haven't used either in years. I just tried to cut something from the program and I received an error message. I've check the USB cable, the cutter itself works fine on it's own and the program works fine on it's own. But they won't work together. I'm unsure what to do. when I disconnect or reconnect the usb from either the computer or the cutter, the computer makes the chime noise so it does recognize something was plugged in. Thank you for your help.

If you've never used THIS particular computer with your eCraft then you need to install whatever driver is required for the eCraft so that Windows understands what kind of USB device is connected to it. I don't own an eCraft cutter but I found this page at Craft Edge which indicates it needs to be the CP210X USB:

Whew! Very happy to read this. Be sure to back up that driver download somewhere safe because you can't count on drivers forever being available on line.
