I don't know about for download, but there is a user manual included under the help menu. You can get the trial version and play with it for 15 days. All cuts you make with the trial will have watermark slashes as well. If you go to youtube and search scal you'll find a lot of tutorial videos as wel...

If you had a design you wanted already, you can make your own embossing folder with chipboard/fiberboard, SCAL and a rolling pin. There are some interesting blog posts and videos out there on the subject. A search using your favorite search engine or youtube would bring up the results.
