SCAL 2 and Windows 7

I have an old personal cricuit version 1.3, and it worked fine with SCAL the last time I used it. Now, it doesn't seem to recognize it. The program after I click on the cut feature just keeps saying checking mat. Do you know what could have happened? It cuts fine from a cartridge, just not with SCAL...
