Craft Edge

I've had my cutter and SCAL for about 2 weeks now. Getting decent results for the most part. I've now started cutting vinyl, which is why I wanted the cutter in the first place. With that said, the overall look is pretty good, but it seems really jaggy. Is that normal, or do you guys have suggestions on getting better results. I have the speed in scal set to the lowest setting. I'm using the deep cutter with the deep housing, and set to 4.

Not sure why you're using the deepcut blade? I cut my vinyl (with great results) using the standard blade and housing with my pressure set to 2, my blade depth to 6, and speed set to slow. This gives me a perfect "kiss cut" and there's not pulling. Maybe Todd aka Talanhart will chime in on this one. He a vinyl master! Good Luck!

Are you using original vector artwork for your letters, or something you converted?

It's artwork from MS-Word; text art. That seems to be the easiest way (for me) to get text on a curve. I'll try to play with Inkscape text to path function and see if I can clean it up.

I'll also play with the standard cutter and ajust the pressure and depths as mentioned. Thanks all.

I get the same jaggies. I took my logo that was created in AI and adapted it so I could cut out a decal for my store door. Added the text fresh rather than the original lettering.

I thought maybe it was because I was cutting out Contact paper rather than 'the good stuff' from a sign company. From a distance (even just a foot or 2) you can't see the wobbly edges, but it's not good enough to sell.

Try cutting this and see if it cuts better.

All I do is cut vinyl and my cuts are perfectly clean. I do mostly words, but have done some graphics. The settings on my E are 3,3,3 and so far have only used Oracle vinyl. I use the regular blade.

I have had some jaggy edges on mine also, no matter what pressure, etc, new blade. After I apply it to something, you can't tell tho.

Like Cartoon, I only cut vinyl and use 3,3,3 with the standard blade. I cut Oracal and Mac Tac mainly.
The only trouble I have is weeding some of the glitter vinyls. I just make sure I have a clean image
before cutting.

Lindamac, do you use your Roland 60s on the vinyl? I love them for paper/cardstock, but the regular 45s worked better for me on vinyl.
