Hi everyone - my first post and a font question for you

I very impulsively downloaded SCAL today.

Then I came here and downloaded The Font Thing. I have it on a partitioned section of my hard drive -- I don't install anything on my C drive except Windows, obviously.

I put everything on the split off half (which is drive F - not that it matters). Anyway, SCAL and TFT are both on the F drive. When I download fonts, I need to still put them in the Windows Font folder, correct? Then, if I move that entire folder over to my F drive, how will I see them in Word? Will I be able to? I guess I'm just afraid that moving that entire folder will mess up OTHER programs. Does that make any sense?
Thanks!
Patti

Nice one!
I like to think of myself as an investor in a developing market!! ( ie the supermarket I could open with the stash I've accumulated!)
My excuse is it's for the business and I have to keep up with the latest technology!

Ok, here's what I did:
I'm downloading all of the fonts to my F drive in the Font Thing folder. When I'm using SCAL, I have both SCAL and the Font Thing open. I find the font I want in TFT and click on it. Then I go into SCAL and refresh the fonts in the library (the little blue arrow in a circle). The font I've clicked on is now showing up in my library.
I didn't have to move my entire Windows Font folder over. I kept it where it was and I can still see all of my fonts in Word.
When I want to use a pre-installed font, I click on the "installed" tab in TFT and choose one (like Times New Roman or Arial). But those all show up in SCAL anyway.
Does any of that make any sense?
If there's an even better way of doing this, I'd love to hear it!
