My Cricut won't cut

Ok, I got a personal cricut and it won't cut for some reason. I am trying to cut a scut file and when I go to cut it, it will go to checking mat then it will give me an error message. I am using windows vista . . . is there something I have to do to windows to get it to work? I am soooo lost right now! lol Any help would be greatly apprecaited!! Thanks in advance!!!

Try running in XP mode. See here for more info.

I just did that and it's still not cutting . . . any other ideas?? Thanks so much for any and all imput everyone!!!!

Did you download the Cricut Design Studio? I think I would try to delete and start again. I know that when I downloaded the CDS it had an error the first time and then I removed and downloaded again and it worked fine. Best of luck to you.
