Unwanted cuts, carrier chatter

I am new but have been having good success until I got the version 2. I had a problem come up and I tried to search the forums with out posting the question, which I am sure has already been asked and answered, but could not find it.

When trying to cut fonts two things are happening.

The first is that there are unwanted cut lines in the font. The letter and word is cut but there are extra cuts through the letters and I don't know why they do not show up on the screen but then cut in.

The second thing is my cutter (cricut personal) . When turning on sometimes the carrier for the blade does its set up slide adjust and then returns to the ready position. However, when it gets the ready position it will continue to try and go further to the right and it will (for the lack of a better word) chatter jumping up and down. I know this can not be good for the machine, but don't know how to fix it. I tried unplugging and pressing the power button and then plugging back in, it has done it again since doing this.

Lastly will having both the scal 1 and scal 2 on the same computer cause conflicts between the software?

Thank you in advance

Are you opening your words in Inkscape first and converting to an svg?? or are you opening right in Scal and typing from their text column.. Scal you can set to preview it first to see exactly what will cut.. Secondly no it won't cause problems having SCAL 1 and 2 installed..I have both..
Thirdly do you have you property compatibility set to winxp in SCAL???

If I remember correctly. I was in verison 2 and was typing fonts directly to screen, not using inkscape.
My cricut is not in my home at the moment.

Thank you on the s1 and s2.

Not sure about the third response. I guess I am to green to the computer ?? Not sure how to answer?
The s1 one seems to be doing fine we used it today and it cut beautifully. Scared of the s2 now.

I also have been reading and searching and found that a notation was that if you are using the trial version will cut lines through text as a watermark?.. I am not using the trial verison. When we first downloaded it and exited when we reopened it we had to put in the serial number each time.

I am sure most of the issues we are having are because of our own lack of knowledge.
We used it today to cut fonts and even made a silouette on our own. Practiced the circle text and had no issues with the 1.

If you are having to put in the serial number each time it's because of your compatibility mode.. If you right click on the scal 2 folder and hit on properties then look for the compatibility option and click on that and then check of winxp.. this should solve your problem..
