Using Dollar Tree contact paper for T-shirt transfer tape?

I am doing my first T-shirt iron-on, and need to use some sort of transfer tape. I've read several pages where people describing using clear contact paper from Dollar Tree. However, all of the ones I have seen, were just using adhesive vinyl. I want to use this for an iron-on. I am concerned that the adhesive on the clear contact paper may transfer to the t-shirt.

Can anyone advise me about this?

I'm so sorry you've gone this long without a response to your questions. Somehow I just missed seeing them.

Anyhow, with most HTV (heat transfer vinyl) you don't need a transfer tape because it's already there. When you cut HTV, you mirror your images and cut with the dull side up... which is the vinyl side. You only penetrate this upper layer and not the shiny side which IS the heat protection layer. Then you weed out the waste leaving just the design on the clear protection layer. Flip it over and press to your shirt. If you go to You Tube you'll find LOTS of videos on this process.
