SCAL5 Cricut 48"

Can I trick Cricut Expression 1 to cut 48" using SCAL5 and custom mat size? I taped together two 24" mats, used custom mat size in scal5, but it still stopped at 24".

If you have your entire design within the boundaries of that custom on-screen mat, then the answer is most likely no. Firmware on a cutter often contains the limitations of the cutter versus the cutting software.
