I noticed that not all my fonts are showing up in my library. I was specifically looking for the 09kutup font that I got from kay (cleversomeday blog). It show up in word so I know that I have it installed and it is in the font folder on my pc. Upon further inspection there a few fonts that I can't find in my library. I have refreshed the library, closed the program and re-installed the font but it still is not there. Can anyone help me out? thanks

uh-oh. it should be right at the top of your font list. Are you on a Mac or PC? There is a preference checkbox on some PC versions of SCAL that says something like enable full font scan. Check that and refresh fonts again. Maybe that will help. I have had a lot of people have trouble with mediafire download hiccups but this is the first time I have heard of my font not showing up in SCAL. Do you have a lot of fonts installed? Maybe SCAL is overloaded.

Hi,
I am a newbie to all of this but I was having the same problem too. I have downloaded alot of fonts to my computer ( I am in the process of putting them on a flash drive to get them off of my laptop) and I am in the "playing" mode with SCAL just to see how things work and how to get them loaded etc. Anyway, yesterday, I was checking out some fonts that I was thinking of using and I noticed that even though I refreshed the font window, they weren't showing up. So what I did was, I would open the font so that the window stayed open and then click on SCAL, click on the word "font" from the box above the cutting mat (sorry not on my home computer so not sure what it's called) then I have to click on the refresh button in the font box and that's when it shows up. Once I close the whole window when I'm done, if I go back into SCAL the font is gone. Then I have to start over. I have alot fonts in the font box and I'm thinking that maybe it's just full so that's why I have to do it this way. HTH

Thanks Kay and Jeanne, I'm running Vista (I say that with much frustration) I must have too many fonts for Scal to open. When I check use full font scan SCAL freezes up and then when I open it again I have empty windows (A problem that I've had in the past) And I have to go in the registery and delete it the scal file. When I reopen it the default setting are back and i can do it all over again, but with the same results.
I did try your idea Jeanne but I could not get 09kutuo to show up, I did how ever lose some other fonts and gain different ones. What a mystery.
Kay could I copy the shape I want into inkscape and make it an svg file? I tried it in SVG factory and it did not work. I'm a newbie to inkscape, just downloaded it yesterday.

That does sound like you have too many fonts. You should probably either use a font manager or have a separate folder for fonts that you like, but won't necessarily use all of the time. That's what I have started doing. If there is a font that I like, but may only use once in a while, I download it to a folder for that type of font. When I want to use it, I open it, minimize it, then open the program I want to use it in. I only install the fonts that I think I will use very often.

MJ,
Yes you can turn those into svgs in Inkscape, but that kinda defeats the purpose. You can find much better shapes than mine (I'm no artist) in various svg files here and elsewhere. The benefit to the font is the easy access with all the shapes visible on the pallette.
If I were experiencing the kind of problems you describe on my Mac I would suspect a corrupt font somewhere, but sounds like just having too many fonts can cause this on PCs.
