I realize this may not be useful to everyone but some of the ones doing their vehicles might have fun with it...you could also experiment with Krylon spray paint for an airbrushed look, color fades, etc...that works best on premium high gloss vinyl but it's not bad as a plain design, too.

Thought I would share this idea...because personalizing cars is very popular at least around here...so I've included a basic template so that it's solid where the name would go. If you don't know how to use Inkscape, I've provided instructions on how I did my name on my blog.
